Apple Customer Service Responds: iPhone Does Not Support Earthquake Alerts – Third-Party Apps Can Implement

August 6th – In the early morning of August 6th, a magnitude 5.5 earthquake occurred in Pingyuan County, Dezhou, Shandong, causing tremors in many areas. Many domestic smartphones come with built-in earthquake alert functions, while brands like Apple and Samsung do not have this built-in feature.

According to Boss Broadcast News, Apple's customer service responded to this by stating that the iPhone does indeed have an earthquake alert function. However, this function is currently only available in countries where earthquakes are relatively frequent, such as Japan and Haiti. Due to regional restrictions in mainland China, this function cannot be used. The customer service representative mentioned that the earthquake alert function can also be achieved on an iPhone: First, enable the "Vibration" switch; second, it needs to be paired with a third-party earthquake alert app, which can be downloaded from the app store.

Earlier today, IT Home reported that the Chengdu Institute of Disaster Mitigation had released tutorials for major smartphone and TV brands on how to enable the built-in "earthquake alert" function.
