Jack Ma "reappears" and shows concern for education and agriculture.

On August 23rd, the Jack Ma Foundation released an official video showing that Jack Ma, the founder of Alibaba, participated in the "Principal's Appointment" Rural Principal Program 2022 Selection Meeting organized by the Jack Ma Foundation in Hangzhou through a video link. During the event, he shared insights he gained from agriculture in terms of education.

"In recent years, I have been learning how to do agriculture well, whether it's planting grass, tea, grapes, or studying fish farming, cattle breeding, and winemaking. I found that successful agriculture doesn't necessarily happen in resource-rich areas, but often in places with unique thinking and imaginative people," said Jack Ma during the video link. He revealed his recent experiences in learning about agriculture and expressed that the lessons from agriculture have made him look back at rural education, emphasizing the importance of nurturing children's imagination and unique thinking.

The Jack Ma Foundation, initiated and donated by Jack Ma, focuses on education, environmental protection, healthcare, entrepreneurship, and other fields. It aims to become a trustworthy, participatory, and sustainable philanthropic organization. Education has become one of Jack Ma's main focuses after his "retirement." In March of this year, he also appeared at the Yun Valley School in Hangzhou to discuss the challenges and opportunities brought by the new round of technological changes in education with school principals.

As the founder of Alibaba, Jack Ma's every move draws public attention. On the morning of June 20th, after Zhang Yong announced stepping down as Chairman and CEO of Alibaba Group, Jack Ma was seen at Alibaba Cloud's Yun Valley Park, engaging in coffee conversations with Zhang Yong and happily greeting Alibaba employees he encountered.

On the afternoon of June 17th, before the start of the "2023 Alibaba Global Mathematics Competition" finals, Jack Ma visited the event site in Hangzhou, interacted with participants and examiners online, and had discussions about mathematics. He stated on-site that the competition would continue to innovate, bringing new joy to mathematics enthusiasts.

Throughout this year, whether appearing at significant Alibaba events, related activities, or internally communicating the three main directions Alibaba's e-commerce should take—"returning to Taobao, returning to users, and returning to the internet"—it's evident that the founder's attention and influence on Alibaba persist.

Simultaneously, Jack Ma continues to exert his influence in the fields of education and agriculture. In 2023, he became an honorary professor at the University of Hong Kong and a visiting professor at the University of Rwanda's Leadership University. In 2022, he was appointed as a visiting professor at the University of Tokyo and Tel Aviv University in Israel.

Tel Aviv University is Israel's largest comprehensive university. Reportedly, Jack Ma was curious about how Israel managed to supply vegetables to Europe despite severe water shortages. He even visited Israel's agricultural research institute to explore the situation. Tel Aviv University's announcement of Jack Ma's appointment as a visiting professor stated that he would be involved in the university's research on sustainable agriculture. The announcement from the University of Tokyo's official website also mentioned that Jack Ma's main research areas at the university are sustainable agriculture and food production.
