At the invitation of President Cyril Ramaphosa of the Republic of South Africa, President Xi Jinping will attend the 15th BRICS Summit of the BRICS leaders in Johannesburg, South Africa from August 21st to 24th, and pay a state visit to South Africa. During his stay in South Africa, President Xi Jinping will also co-chair the Leaders' Dialogue between China and Africa with President Ramaphosa.

The international community is highly concerned about President Xi Jinping's visit. Overseas individuals from all walks of life expressed their anticipation to hear President Xi Jinping's important propositions on strengthening BRICS cooperation, promoting South-South cooperation, improving global governance, and promoting world development and prosperity. South Africa and various sectors of Africa look forward to the new progress achieved in the China-Africa high-level dialogue leading the construction of a community of shared future for China and Africa, and believe that President Xi Jinping's visit to South Africa will undoubtedly promote the comprehensive strategic partnership between China and South Africa to a new level.

Promoting New Chapters in BRICS Cooperation

BRICS countries occupy 26% of the world's land area, 42% of the population, and 25% of the total economy, representing the historical trend of the rise of a group of large developing countries. Over the past 17 years, the "spark of fire reveals true gold," BRICS cooperation has experienced a 17-year journey, becoming an important platform for emerging market countries and developing countries to unite for self-strengthening. How to respond to the new international situation and embark on a new golden journey is the focus of this BRICS leaders' meeting.

"Greatly looking forward to hearing President Xi Jinping's speech at the BRICS leaders' meeting, hoping to gain important insights on strengthening BRICS cooperation and global governance," said Irina Kokushkina, Deputy Professor of the Department of Economics at St. Petersburg State University in Russia. "China has set an example of equal and mutually beneficial cooperation and plays a role as a major country in balancing and stabilizing international relations."

Last year, at the Third BRICS Summit hosted by China, significant achievements were made: the BRICS countries issued a joint statement in support of the multilateral trading system and the reform of the World Trade Organization, the first-ever BRICS Food Security Cooperation Strategy was reached, the "BRICS Network of Technology Transfer Centers" was established, and the "BRICS Digital Economy Partnership Framework" was established... Kokushkina said, "The achievements of the 'China Year' of BRICS last year were unprecedented in terms of both quantity and quality. The BRICS cooperation mechanism has developed into an important platform for developing country cooperation, and the momentum of cooperation will continue and develop at this meeting."

"The upcoming BRICS leaders' meeting is highly anticipated worldwide," said Marcos Pereira, Director of the Institute of Economics and International Studies at the São Paulo State University in Brazil. "The international community hopes to hear President Xi Jinping's important proposals on promoting development, prosperity, and democratization of international relations in China." Pereira believed that the summit is expected to achieve positive outcomes, especially in creating new action platforms in areas such as trade, currency, and climate governance. In addition, "there is eager anticipation for the 'expansion' of BRICS."

Kenneth Creamer, Economic Advisor to the President of South Africa, pointed out, "President Xi Jinping's visit to South Africa will inject new momentum into the development of BRICS cooperation." He said that over the past decade, the BRICS cooperation mechanism has achieved tremendous success in promoting trade and cooperation among member countries. The BRICS countries should continue to promote mutually beneficial cooperation and jointly promote the world economy towards greater justice and inclusiveness.

"The BRICS cooperation mechanism provides a constructive platform for the exchange of ideas and concepts among countries with different traditions, cultures, and languages, actively promoting the process of global multipolarity and the harmonious development of diverse civilizations. This is one of the attractions of the BRICS mechanism," said Victoria Panova, Deputy Rector of the Higher School of Economics in Russia. The main topic of this summit is how to "expand," which will demonstrate inclusiveness and also ensure the efficiency of the BRICS mechanism.

Kantan, a political analyst from India, said, looking at the global population, four-fifths of it lives in developing countries. But where is the voice of these people living in developing countries? "We need a truly representative multilateral mechanism for the 'Global South,' and the BRICS cooperation mechanism can play such a role."

Promoting New Developments in China-Africa and South-South Cooperation

When minds unite, distant places become close. During this summit, BRICS leaders will hold dialogues with leaders from African countries and other emerging markets and developing countries. During his stay in South Africa, President Xi Jinping will also co-chair the Leaders' Dialogue between China and Africa with President Ramaphosa. Many people believe that they look forward to China and other emerging markets and developing countries in regions such as Africa discussing deeper cooperation, leading the construction of a community of shared future for China and Africa to make new progress, and believe that President Xi Jinping's visit will undoubtedly promote the comprehensive strategic partnership between China and South Africa to a new level.

"We look forward to President Xi Jinping's in-depth exchanges with leaders of African and other regional countries during this BRICS leaders' meeting, to propose new ideas and plans for future China-Africa and BRICS-Africa cooperation, and to promote the development of South-South cooperation," said Jean-Eric Rakotomalala, a law professor at the University of Antananarivo in Madagascar. Over the past few decades, Sino-African cooperation has become increasingly close, and trade and cooperation between them have developed rapidly. The "Belt and Road" initiative not only helped African countries improve their infrastructure construction but also made significant contributions to improving the health and food security of African people.

It can be seen that the "Belt and Road" initiative is bringing new opportunities for China-Africa cooperation. "Exporting to China" has become a topic of discussion for more and more African farmers and exporters. From Madagascar essential oils, Kenyan flowers, Zambian oil paintings and gems, to Ethiopian coffee, Zimbabwean wood carvings, and South African wines, diversified African products are exported to China, bringing stable income and development opportunities to African people.

"China is Africa's partner in cooperation, sharing development opportunities with Africa, and committed to safeguarding the collective interests of developing countries. President Xi Jinping's visit to Africa.
