On the evening of August 5th, Liu Ji, the head of the China Railway Art Troupe's Rap Group and the Vice Chairman of the Hebei Quyi Artists Association, revealed on his social media that the well-known crosstalk performer and quyi writer Yan Yueming had passed away at the age of 78. Subsequently, crosstalk actors like Miao Fu and Dai Jiuan mourned Mr. Yan Yueming's passing on Weibo.
Yan Yueming hailed from a family of Tianjin quyi artists, and he gained fame in crosstalk performances. He was also an outstanding quyi writer. His popular sketches, such as "Empathy," "Feeding Fish with Boiled Water," "Banter Challenge," and "Off-Topic," were all products of his creativity.
Yan Yueming was known for his group crosstalk performances and had graced the stage of the CCTV Spring Festival Gala multiple times. In the 1991 Spring Festival Gala, he performed a group crosstalk piece titled "Comedians Persuading Drinking" alongside performers like Chang Peiye, Xiaolin, and Li Guosheng. In the 1992 Spring Festival Gala, he teamed up with Li Jianhua and Wang Ping for a crosstalk sketch titled "On Praise." In the 1994 Spring Festival Gala, he collaborated with Li Jindou, Shi Fukuan, and Dan Lianli for a crosstalk performance titled "Off-Topic." In the 1995 Spring Festival Gala, he joined forces with Li Jindou, Shi Fukuan, and Chang Guitian for a crosstalk sketch called "Joy in the New Year."
In addition, Yan Yueming frequently collaborated with Gao Yingpei, Li Jindou, Tang Aiguo, and Meng Fangu to perform crosstalk acts such as "Good, Good, Good," "Banter Challenge," and "Speedy Laughter Clinic."
Yan Yueming also participated in several film and television works. In 2004, he had a guest role in the TV series "Iron Teeth Bronze Teeth Ji Xiaolan Part Three." In 2009, he appeared in the movie "Countryside Big Mouth" and portrayed Zhang Yinfeng's father in the TV drama "The Clumsy Daughter-in-Law Takes Charge."
